The area — what is within cycling distance

This is not a guide to Kraków — you can find a thousand of those. This is what we know about the place where we live: where you can really get to by bike from here, how long it takes, and why you would want to go there.

Rybna Street lies right on the Vistula. Paths run along the river — one way they take you to the Old Town, the other way to Tyniec. We lend bikes to guests.

Tyniec by bike, half an hour along the river

It is the best trip you can make from this garden, and the one guests ask about most when they wonder what to do.

You ride along the Vistula the whole way, in the opposite direction to the centre. About thirty minutes, with almost no hills. One of our guests wrote afterwards that the routes around here are almost entirely flat and very safe. This is exactly that route.

On site, on the limestone rock above the river, stands the Benedictine abbey. Below it, by the water:

  • A ferry across the Vistula — a crossing to the other bank, if you want to return along the other side of the river.
  • Kayak rental — the Vistula is calm here.
  • Local breweries — beer brewed on site, not bought in from a wholesaler.
  • A few riverside pubs — for lunch, or a beer before the ride back.

You ride back the same way. The whole trip with a stop takes half a day, and in the evening the sauna is waiting — and that is exactly the order we recommend.

Las Wolski starts above the cottage

From Rybna you climb a little, and within minutes you are in Kraków's largest urban forest. The trails are marked — you can walk for an hour or for the whole day.

In the same direction, along the edge of the forest, stands the Camaldolese monastery in Bielany. A little closer to the centre is the Kościuszko Mound, with a view over the whole city. You pass both on the way if you ride towards the Old Town over the hill rather than along the river.

Kraków the other way round

To the Old Town you go along the Vistula — a quarter of an hour by car, the bus about the same, by bike on the riverside path. There is a stop nearby and regular services. Balice airport is eight kilometres away.

Guests most often do it like this: a day in the city, a ride back along the river at sunset, and in the evening the sauna and the garden. You do not have to choose between Kraków and quiet.

Within walking distance

Shops and restaurants are a few minutes on foot. Guests appreciate the nearby supermarkets and local shops — you do not need to go anywhere for basic shopping.

From here it is also convenient to head for the Beskids and the Zakopane road — if you treat the cottage as a base for longer.

We lend bikes

We have three bikes that our guests can borrow — free of charge. Tell us on arrival how many you need.
